Denkov: The question is whether the prime minister will be able to rally the ministers around him - 1

Former prime minister Nikolay Denkov stated that with the formation of the new coalition government, the political crisis has been put to an end for the time being, BNR informs.

However, he described as "scandalous" the fact that the former Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ivaylo Ivanov, who was dismissed from his post four years ago due to police violence against protesters against the then government of Boyko Borisov, has been appointed as the head of the cabinet of the new Minister of Internal Affairs Daniel Mitov.

There are two major challenges facing Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov - to be able to form a team with the ministers and to resist attempts at unregulated influence. The stability of the cabinet over time will depend on this, said Academician Denkov:

"It will certainly be difficult for them. We have been in similar cabinets, so there is tension. The question is whether the prime minister will be able, on the one hand, to unite the ministers around him, this is important, and on the other hand, to block attempts at external pressure and influence. They will be incessant".

The former prime minister from the so-called "assembly" described the appointment of Ivaylo Ivanov as head of the cabinet of the Minister of Internal Affairs as scandalous, recalling that four years ago he was dismissed from the department as chief secretary due to police violence against protesters:

"We are talking about the appointment to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The one who actually had to leave then because he used violence. Society does not want us to return to those times and I hope that there will be a real reaction immediately, we need another person there".

When asked whether they were satisfied with the signed management agreement, which included 90 percent of the PP-DB proposals, Denkov replied as follows:

"The most important things were not actually included in this agreement - the isolation of political influence on the judicial system, unregulated contacts where there are groups of influence".
