Assen Vassilev: Temenuzhka Petkova confused deficit with surplus - 1

After the meeting of the Council for Joint Management of the Cabinet, it was decided not to request a convergence report. When the Plan for the Adoption of the Euro in 2022 was to be adopted, both BSP and ITN voted against. We were 10 to 8 votes - one step away from failing to adopt it. If they have now put the government on the line, it is possible that Borisov has "turned tail". This was said by PP-DB MP Assen Vassilev on the air of "Your Day" on NOVA NEWS.

"Obviously, we are ready to enter the eurozone. We have had a clear request from all eurozone countries since March 2024 that Bulgaria has fulfilled all the criteria, except for the inflation one. It is calculated by taking the three lowest countries, but excluding those with significantly lower inflation, this is part of the rules. At the moment, with the exclusion of one country, which is 1.5% below the eurozone average, Bulgaria meets the criterion - we must request a convergence report. In February, we will also meet this requirement - and without any country having to be excluded", he commented.

According to him, Temenuzhka Petkova mentioned that for January, revenues were 3.6 billion, and expenditures were 3.2 billion. "That is, she called the surplus a deficit. So she made a mistake of 400 million leva. It remains to be seen whether the higher salaries for the Ministry of Interior will be paid in order to know how much the expenses will be in the future. The fiscal reserve is involved in every payment, no permission is needed to handle it," Vassilev pointed out.
