Iliana Yotova: We must enter the eurozone prepared so that there are no shocks and disappointments among the people

Iliana Yotova: We must enter the eurozone prepared so that there are no shocks and disappointments among the people - 1

Bulgaria must enter the eurozone prepared so that there are no shocks and no disappointments among the people, Vice President Iliana Yotova told journalists in Razgrad, BTA reports. She expressed confidence that the government will request a convergence report, but added that many things will become clear when the national budget proposal is presented on February 14. We cannot afford to put Bulgaria on the brink of a financial crisis. I think that a difference of a few months is not fatal, it is better that all conditions are truly met, especially when it comes to the financial stability of the country, Iliana Yotova also said.

According to her, it is not good for the debate “for“ or “against“ the eurozone to flare up along purely political lines, because we are all interested in Bulgaria feeling like a full member of the eurozone and having the opportunity to intervene in major European financial policies.

The Vice President expressed hope that in the new budget the municipalities will receive, if possible, even more than what they have already stated as desires and claims. The reason, according to Yotova, is that local authorities have suffered the worst consequences of national instability. These people deserve to take a breath, to feel calm, to protect their projects, both under the operational programs and the projects that have already been approved by the first tranche of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, Iliana Yotova also said.
