Attorney Stefan Karayotov announced before the Sofia City Court (SCC) that his client Ivaylo Tsvetkov - Noisi agrees to have his car taken away from him and believes that this is fair, a BGNES reporter reported.

At the beginning of the hearing, attorney Karayotov stated to the court that “there was a request to suspend the proceedings” and maintains his request as it was made. “I believe that the only chance to protect the honor of the judiciary is to suspend these proceedings until the Constitutional Court (CC) issues a ruling”, he said.

After a brief deliberation, the court panel decided that the request was unfounded.

“At the moment, there is no ruling from the CC. The case should be considered on its merits. At this point, however, there are no grounds for suspending the proceedings”, the judge emphasized.

Before the court panel, Ivaylo Tsvetkov's lawyer – Noizi announced that his client, who did not appear in the courtroom, agrees to have his car taken away, noting that he considers this fair.

We recall that on November 5 last year, Ivaylo Tsvetkov-Noizi's lawyer Stefan Karayotov asked the Sofia City Court to suspend the case for the seizure of his car until the Constitutional Court ruled on the case. Noizi was caught driving his BMW in November 2023 after consuming alcohol - a breathalyzer test showed a sample of 2.12 per mille of alcohol, and a blood test showed the presence of 2.52 per mille. He was subsequently released on bail of 15,000 leva. His suspended sentence was reached after an agreement with the prosecutor's office, which imposed a 10-month suspended sentence on the journalist with a 3-year probationary period.

At the end of January, it became clear that the prosecutor's office had initiated an investigation against Judge Miroslav Petrov of the Sofia District Court for his refusal to confiscate Ivaylo Noyzi-Tsvetkov's car.
