CITUB: The Swiss rule should also be applied to the increase in the maximum pension - 1

The Swiss rule should also be applied to the increase in the maximum pension, which is now 3,400 leva - this is one of the CITUB's demands to the government of Rosen Zhelyazkov before the discussion of the draft budget for 2025. For now, an increase in pensions from July 1 by between 8 and 9 percent is planned, which, however, does not affect the pension ceiling. The union insists that insurance contributions for the "Pensions" fund be raised this year. by at least two percentage points, BNR specified.

If the Swiss rule is applied to the maximum pension when updating pensions, this means that it will be between 3,672 and 3,700 leva, according to the expert calculations of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions.

The trade unionists insist that this be a step towards a gradual increase in the ratio of minimum to maximum pension and the elimination of the so-called "ceiling".

Another request of the trade union is that the medium-term measures also include an increase in the contribution to the Universal Funds from the second pillar of pension insurance by at least 2 percentage points. Now the contribution there is 5 percent.

The Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions also proposes that the minimum social security income for everyone, including the self-employed, be set at least at the level of the minimum wage for the country or 1077 leva now, without allowing exceptions for individual groups such as agricultural producers or tobacco producers, and that the maximum instead of the previously discussed 4130 leva be 4327 leva.

The calculations were made with a planning of its growth of over 15% - that is, higher than the increase in the minimum wage for 2025.

The minimum unemployment benefit should be increased so that its monthly amount reaches at least the level of the national poverty line for 2025 of 638 leva. This means a minimum daily amount of the benefit for 2025. in the amount of 30 leva instead of the current 18 is another request of the CITUB to the government.
