Lilkov: Urban transport in Sofia must be fully optimized - 1

Since its inception, the Sofia Municipal Council has had difficulty reaching an agreement on any topic, or it has done so at the cost of loud scandals. There was no shortage of such issues last week - from how the mayor reacted to the problems with dirty air, through night transport, to the problem of overbuilding. Vasil Terziev announced that he will personally be responsible for approving construction projects. The topic in the studio of “Intersection” was commented on by the municipal councilor from “Blue Bulgaria” Vili Lilkov.

”Urban transport in Sofia must be fully optimized. In addition to night transport, there are also many daytime lines that are at a loss”, he pointed out. In his words, it may turn out that night transport in the capital is no more loss-making than some currently operating daytime lines. Lilkov promised the SOS to solve the problem in a way that would be in everyone's interest. "The issue can be resolved in a working group in two weeks. This means that the topic can be concluded by the end of February," the municipal councilor emphasized.

He also commented on the difficult political situation in the SOS. "Although there is currently no political majority that would be the driving force of the Municipal Council, good things are happening in Sofia. 10 new metro stations are currently being built. In Bulgaria, it is accepted that if you spit on your opponent, you get political dividends. However, we from "Blue Sofia" are a constructive opposition," Lilkov added.

The SOS plans to work on building mini hydroelectric power plants on Sofia's high-pressure water pipes. "An old idea, a green project, but we finally have the consent of "Sofia Water". This way we will not waste energy that would power Sofia," the municipal councilor pointed out.
