The good thing is that in the end everything will become clear, it just takes time. It has already become clear that the report on a cash basis is coming out and everything is accurate. The report on an accrual basis will be delayed and it will take at least 2 more months, during which there will obviously be such verbal skirmishes.
This was said on the show "Denyat na Zievo" on BNT by the co-chairman of the PG of "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" acad. Nikolay Denkov, who commented on the topic of the budget and Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone, quoted by novini.bg
"We constantly use numbers taken from the statements of the Minister of Finance and do an analysis. The other numbers we use are those of the former acting Minister of Finance and current Deputy Minister. The only certain thing is that there is no 18 billion leva hole that GERB talks about a lot. We have not participated in the widespread distribution of money. There is no dispute that salaries should be increased in both the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense, but not on a shoestring. That is why we argue. Assen Vassilev managed to bring down inflation and any suggestions that something is not true about inflation are false and malicious", he added.
"Borisov is the one who started talking about these 18 billion. If this is true, there is no chance of us entering the eurozone. I will repeat again that this is categorically not true. The question is why Borisov is saying these things. He doubted all the accounts presented by the Ministry of Finance. To claim that these data are falsified means to accuse the Ministry of Finance and the Bulgarian National Bank of falsifying data. A single Minister of Finance cannot fix things. There are two options why Borisov is saying these things. The first is to explain that before us everything was chaos and ruin, we will fix it now. This is a harmless PR move. The other option is that someone is putting pressure on him not to enter the eurozone. This is already dangerous," revealed Academician Denkov.
"I trust Rosen Zhelyazkov for the eurozone, but I do not trust people around him who manipulate public opinion that we are not ready for the eurozone. There is a risk that someone will want to push the currency board. This is also very dangerous. Let's wait until February 17 and see what draft budget the cabinet will submit. It is likely that Borisov's coalition partners will put pressure on us not to enter the eurozone. Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone will financially stabilize the country. It is normal for people to have fears, but there should be explanations as to why our entry into the eurozone will be beneficial. Such explanations are lacking," Nikolay Denkov also said.
