Two boys aged 14 and 16 were admitted to the Emergency Department of the Multi-profile Hospital for Active Treatment (MBAL) in Pazardzhik for a day after consuming an energy drink and alcohol, the hospital announced.
A 14-year-old boy from Pazardzhik fainted in a schoolyard on February 4 at around 9:00 a.m.
He was brought to the hospital by ambulance after first aid was provided on the spot.
The child reported that he felt sick after consuming an energy drink and smoking a cigarette of unknown origin.
After examinations, tests and consultation with pediatrician the boy was hospitalized in the Second Pediatric Ward. The rapid drug test was negative. When the child was admitted to the ward, he was in an impaired state, the hospital specified.
A few hours later, at around 10:00 PM, another 16-year-old boy was admitted to the Emergency Department, who had drunk a large amount of whiskey. He was admitted intoxicated, in an inadequate state and after repeated vomiting. After the tests were performed and his condition stabilized, his parents refused to be hospitalized, the hospital added.
The hospital urged parents to be more attentive to the behavior and environment of their children, to talk to them about the risks of using harmful substances and to seek help from specialists if they suspect addiction.
