Today, Sofia Municipality received the statement of findings from the Directorate of National Construction Control (DNSK) for Opalchenska Street and will file an objection within the legally established seven-day period. This was stated by the Deputy Mayor of Sofia for Public Construction Nikola Lyutov.
„The lack of coordination between institutions creates chaos and additional inconvenience for citizens. Sofia deserves effective management of infrastructure projects, not surprising decisions without justification.“, said Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev.
Work on the site is currently ongoing.
The announcements in the public space from yesterday, made before the report of findings was submitted to us, are an inspection with a predetermined end, commented Sofia Deputy Mayor Lyutov.
The document issued by the DNSK states a finding that was established during the current control of the site by the Sofia Municipality, namely that the grain size of the rock material used to build the road structure does not comply with the requirements. As of January 10, 2025. The problem was identified by the municipality's control teams and an order was issued to the site's builder to eliminate the irregularities at his own expense and without extending the work period.
The builder was required to carry out the construction and installation works in the section with material that meets the quality and technical indicators set out in the project. Currently, the work on removing the material is in an advanced phase.
The reconstruction of Opalchenska Street includes the replacement of engineering infrastructure, a complete renovation of the route from Todor Aleksandrov Blvd. to Slivnitsa Blvd., construction of a drainage channel along Slivnitsa Blvd. to its discharge into the river. Vladayska, accompanying infrastructure in the “Vazrazhdane“ area, as well as construction of a rail track at the intersection with “Pirotska“ street.
The reconstruction work has been inspected by a number of institutions such as the Basin Directorate, RIEW, and the Ministry of Culture.
