The BSP convenes the first session of the 51st Congress of the party, FOCUS reported.
It will be held at the National Palace of Culture. The Socialists must elect their new chairman.
There were initially 17 candidates, but during the campaign three withdrew. Dragomir Stoynev, Ivan Takov and Ivan Ivanov withdrew from the battle for chairman of the party. Thus, the total number of those fighting for the leadership position in the BSP is 14.
These are: Atanas Zafirov, Borislav Gutsanov, Sergey Stanishev, Kaloyan Pargov, Kristian Vigenin, Rumen Ovcharov, Dora Yankova, Anton Kutev, Gennady Sabkov, Gabriel Valkov, Boris Tsvetkov, Boyan Balev, Trifon Panchev, Rusi Statkov.
The expectations are that today the direct election of the BSP leader will be abolished. In addition, the requirement for mandates for socialists who are members of parliament, as well as for local chairmen, will be abolished. Another text that is also expected to be corrected is this one, the so-called ban on incompatibility - for deputies to also be local leaders.
