The Ministry of Tourism has initiated the creation of a map of important, but inaccessible and difficult-to-reach tourist and cultural and historical sites, and will insist on financing the necessary repairs and improvements that will facilitate access for visitors and support the development of local tourism.

This became clear after a meeting between the Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh and the Mayor of Samokov Municipality Eng. Angel Dzhorgov. The focus of the conversation was precisely the infrastructure leading to and the condition of the road to the "Beli Iskar" eco-trail, which are owned by the municipality. Minister Borshosh got acquainted with the case on site, so the two talked at the entrance to one of the emblematic tourist destinations in the region, which is part of the Rila National Park.

“The infrastructure leading to tourist sites and routes is not a commitment of the ministry, but it is a fundamental problem for the development of Bulgarian tourism. In order to attract tourists and stimulate the domestic market, it is imperative to create conditions for access to the natural and cultural and historical treasures of Bulgaria“ – said Minister Borshosh and added: “With the help of local authorities and the tourism industry, we will create an interactive map that will include sites that are difficult to reach. This includes archaeological monuments. We will describe all infrastructure problems - from the need for new pavements and repairs to certain sections to the allocation of sufficient parking spaces for visitors and signposts for the sites.“

The Ministry of Tourism will rely on the traditional dialogue with tourist associations to specify the list of sites, as well as key representatives of the non-governmental sector in the person of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The mayor of the mountain town offered his support and shared that he will continue to work hard to establish the region as a preferred tourist destination, combining beautiful nature, active recreation and sustainable development.
