The meeting in Saudi Arabia is either a chess gambit or a well-thought-out strategy. This was stated to journalists by Vice President Iliana Yotova.
“I hope it is the latter. Europe must find its own policy in this complex situation. Decisions go through all member states, not just selected ones”, she explained.
Shortly before 10:00 a.m. Bulgarian time on Tuesday, talks between high-ranking representatives of the United States and Russia began. The meeting was held in Saudi Arabia and was dedicated to improving bilateral relations and negotiating an end to the war in Ukraine. The delegations were led by the top diplomats of the two countries - Marco Rubio and Sergey Lavrov.
Yotova described the position of President Rumen Radev, who stated that he was against sending Bulgarian military personnel to Ukraine, as courageous and categorical.
“I hope this will also be the position of the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers, which is also the position of many European leaders, even those who have always been the most reserved in relation to Russia”, she explained.
”My dream is for Europe to maintain its leadership position. To be an equal partner on the international stage, to express the interests of European citizens and to show with its actions not a divided, but a united Europe”, the vice president also said.
