The ruling party will submit a draft declaration to the National Assembly, which prohibits any initiatives to send Bulgarian military personnel to the territory of Ukraine. This was announced by deputies from the parliamentary majority.
The declaration will be considered today at a meeting of the Foreign Policy Committee, and tomorrow it will be submitted to the plenary hall, reports BNR.
"I think the position of all parliamentary groups from last year is clear and all are against sending them to an armed conflict or to a place where there is active military action by Bulgarian armed forces. I think it is high time it was confirmed again, now with a document from the National Assembly", said Hristo Gadzhev from GERB-SDF.
The BSP and "There is such a people" emphasized that the goal is to stop speculation and calm Bulgarian society, explained the deputies from both formations Galin Durev and Pavela Mitova.
"The consistent position of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, the parliamentary group is to search for peaceful ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, so we categorically stand behind this declaration", said Galin Durev from the BSP.
"With this declaration, the aim is to calm the Bulgarian public, because some opinions are being instilled in Bulgarian society that perhaps Bulgarian military personnel could be sent. "The National Assembly is the only institution that can make such decisions," commented Pavela Mitova from ITN.
