The powers of the mayor of the capital region "Slatina" Georgi Iliev have been terminated early. This is clear from a decision of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC).
The reason given is participation in commercial activity.
"This is a replacement of the legitimately exercised right to choose of the citizens of the region. The decision will not stop us from fighting and doing everything possible to ensure democratic representation of the residents of the "Slatina" district...One thing is certain - I will continue to work for the interests of my neighbors and fellow citizens," Iliev wrote on Facebook.
The MEC's decision can be challenged within 7 days before the Administrative Court – Sofia - city.
