Nikola Stoyanov on state-owned post office stores: Only some money will be spent without effect - 1

For people with low incomes, we had proposed a Law on Surcharges - one type of dairy products and those of basic necessities, which would have a 10% surcharge. This can be immediately introduced by law and will not disrupt the market. The bill on the agri-food chain is very easy to circumvent, and on the other hand it rudely interferes with all players on the market. This was said by the former acting Minister of Economy Nikola Stoyanov on the show "Denyat na Zievo".
According to him, the bill is borrowed from the previously proposed Law on Surcharges. "It is not thought out, a surcharge can be imposed through export and re-import. The producer can get a good price for his goods if the market functions well," added the economist.

According to him, creating state-owned stores in post offices will have no effect on food prices. "The only thing that will be spent is some money with no effect from the taxpayers' point of view. There are enough players in the food market, there is no vacuum. Post offices have 3,000 branches, but some are small in physical terms, and a number of conditions must be met in order to have a license. Over 70% of them are in small settlements where there is no supermarket at all - this means that they will compete with family stores. There is no way that they can become a serious player in the market through post offices. Where and how will the state buy goods for this new chain cheaper? For me, it is absolute nonsense. I don't think that the budget can currently afford it," commented Stoyanov.
