The Israeli army said it was carrying out large-scale strikes on Hamas targets in Gaza and medical officials reported at least 30 dead in the heaviest airstrikes since the start of a ceasefire on January 19, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The army did not provide further details about the strikes.
According to information from medics and witnesses, three houses in Deir al-Bala in central Gaza, a building in Gaza City and targets in Khan Younis and Rafah were hit.
The Palestinian Civil Defense Service announced that at least 30 people were killed and dozens were injured. The service said Israel had carried out at least 35 airstrikes in Gaza.
The escalation of violence comes amid disagreements between Israel and Hamas over how to continue a three-phase ceasefire that began in January, Reuters reported. Arab mediators, backed by the United States, have failed to resolve differences between the two warring parties during talks held over the past two weeks.
