Residents of the capital's "Oborishte" district are complaining about attacks by a man with mental problems. According to witnesses, the man is periodically forcibly sent to a psychiatric hospital, then released, until a new attack occurs, which is again a reason for him to be taken to a psychiatric hospital for a short time. The police have given statements about him and the conclusion is that there is nothing more that can be done.
A woman from Sofia told NOVA that her child was his latest target. This happened on Saturday. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that on that day she and her husband, child and friends decided to go for a walk in the NDK park.
„My daughter was playing in the grass. Suddenly the man in question came over. I immediately felt that something was wrong and called my daughter. He threw his backpack and hat, started talking incoherently. He went to a couple of teenagers, leaned over them, said something to them and they left. I felt that something was happening”, the woman said. She had never heard of the man in question before.
„He came to us, took out crosses, started reciting prayers. He told me that I was possessed by the devil and was charging the child with dark energies”, the woman said. She assumes that her tattoos provoked him.
“We packed our things, left, he followed us. My daughter got scared. He ran, I ran with her in my arms. The men stopped him, but he continued to make threats”, the victim said.
She did not file a police report. She tried to do so a few days later. In her district, she was told to do it directly in the “Oborishte” district. "They didn't tell me not to file a complaint, but they hinted to me that there was no point because he is mentally ill and they only have the right to detain him for 24 hours," the woman explained.
The police told NOVA that last year alone, he was issued 8 cases, detained three times, and forcibly sent to a psychiatric hospital once.
