Owners of establishments and restaurants will block main roads and road junctions in the country in protest against the VAT increase for the industry. The national protest action will include more than 30 major cities and tourist centers, the Association of Restaurants in Bulgaria announced.
Alibegov: The difference from 9% to 20% VAT will be borne by the restaurant industry, we will not raise prices
Through the blockades of major roads and key intersections, the restaurateurs aim to attract attention and demonstrate their disagreement with the lack of dialogue with the authorities regarding the set 20 percent VAT.
Since Saturday, the restaurants have been in symbolic protest actions by turning off the lights and music for nine minutes at 9:00 PM every night with an appeal to the authorities to protect Bulgarian tourism.
