Kiril Petkov: We will not compromise with corruption

Bulgaria faces huge challenges

Last week, the ruling majority adopted the most inflated budget in the recent history of Bulgaria - with a debt of 19 billion leva instead of the required 12 billion leva, apparently 7 billion leva will be poured into state-owned companies to be spent without accountability and transparency. The ruling majority adopted the creation of a state-owned LAFKA in post offices, in order to keep people in small settlements dependent, and small businesses were again obliged to register for VAT with a turnover of over 100,000 leva.

This was commented on "Facebook" Kiril Petkov.

The adoption of the new budget with huge corruption opportunities, huge debt, twice as expensive investment projects such as the Byala-Ruse section, as well as the obvious governing partner "Novo Nachola", show that Bulgaria is returning to the dark years before 2021. BSP and ITN clearly betrayed their own promise of a cordon sanitaire and helped elect a constitutional judge, nominated by Peevski and elected with the votes of "Novo Nachola".

Bulgaria faces the following huge challenges:

We must urgently adopt the laws on the second payment under the PVU, the rules for the anti-corruption commission, the law on whistleblowers, the law on personal bankruptcy. Without these laws, Bulgaria will lose billions of levs, which are also included in the adopted budget. If the laws are not adopted and the funds pledged under the EMP are not obtained, the implementation of the three percent deficit required for the Eurozone will be seriously threatened. The inaction of the ruling majority puts at risk both the money for Bulgarians and entry into the Eurozone.

The electoral code must be improved. The Constitutional Court clearly indicated that the manual counting of ballots allows for the falsification of voters' votes. If the next elections are held with the same electoral code, the result could be even more distorted with even greater abuses. "We continue the change" will work to adopt a better electoral law that would allow for truly fair elections.

The Eurozone is no longer only a matter of economic prosperity, but also of national security. Bulgaria's only safe place is in the heart of Europe - where there is greater equality, social policy, more opportunities for business, and justice through working laws and institutions.

We give the government until the end of June to adopt the laws on the PVP. If we see that these laws are not adopted, that the corruption risks are realized, that Peevski continues to rule in this government and all regulators are elected under his dictation, on the very first day after the date on which we receive a decision on the Eurozone, we will initiate a vote of no confidence in this government for its refusal to fight corruption.

The next three months are crucial for Bulgaria and we at "Continuing the Change" will not compromise either with corruption or with the European development of our country.
