The District Prosecutor's Office in Plovdiv, the Regional Health Inspectorate and the Executive Agency "Medical Supervision" are working on the case of the deceased 6-year-old child in a dental office. According to the Secretary General of the Bulgarian Dental Union, Dr. Borislav Milanov, if the child has an allergy, it should manifest itself in some way regardless of the irritant it was caused by.
“It is not stated anywhere that every patient must be tested with the appropriate allergy test if there is no prior history and no similar testimony given by the patient himself“, he said.
According to him, the responsibility for the tragedy is collective – of the parents, the specialists, and the state. “What needs to be done before such an intervention is to take a complete history. This should be done by the parent, because he knows his child best“, the doctor emphasized.
We recall that the case became clear on Sunday. The prosecutor's office announced yesterday that pre-trial proceedings for medical malpractice have been initiated. The cause of death of a 6-year-old child due to “negligent performance of a legally regulated activity” is being investigated. Inspections have been carried out and several expert reports have been ordered.
The private medical center sent its official position to NOVA. In it, the manager of the MDC and SHBAL “Medicus Alfa“ EOOD Dr. Dinko Mladenov points out that on April 4, the child underwent dental treatment with general nasotracheal anesthesia, which passed without complications in the operating room.
“All rules for good medical practice were followed. 40-50 min. after the child was removed from anesthesia and was already in the hospital room, contact and conscious and with normal breathing, complications appeared. "A full range of resuscitation procedures were applied and yet a fatal outcome occurred," the document states.
In their position, the center states that they are not entitled to provide more information until the examinations are completed and expresses their condolences to the child's relatives.
