The government will consider a report with 37 comprehensive measures to increase road safety. This was announced by the Prime Minister and ministers after the meeting dedicated to road safety and the fight against the war on the roads, quoted by BNT. The meeting was initiated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov after the brutal accident that killed 12-year-old Siyana.

Regional Minister Ivan Ivanov announced that he and the RIA have committed to launching a new lot of the "Hemus" highway, as well as the road section between Botevgrad and Mezdra, by the end of June.

Transport Minister Grozdan Karadjov stated that the goal of the 37 measures is to achieve a 20% reduction in road fatalities.

Some of the measures provide for:

increasing control over the transportation of children and students. For this purpose, technical devices will be introduced that will not allow the engine to start if the driver has used alcohol or drugs. Grozdan Karadjov explained that these are devices that, by recognizing the driver's face and identity, will also take an alcohol and drug test, and the engine will not be able to be started.
using automated monitoring and measurement systems for municipalities, state institutions will be able to issue and serve criminal decrees based on their data.
"When personal identification becomes possible electronically with the new ID cards, the decrees will also be served electronically", said Grozdan Karadjov.

It is planned to create a body to investigate serious road accidents.
"My colleagues and I are aware that the serious inherited problems we have should not look for a culprit, but find a solution. "And this must begin immediately," the Prime Minister said at the beginning.
