Eng. Yonko Ivanov: Bulgaria is lagging behind in both roads and traffic organization

Eng. Yonko Ivanov: Bulgaria is lagging behind in both roads and traffic organization - 1

Transport Minister Grozdan Karadjov announced that a report will be considered, which includes 37 road safety measures. The goal is to reduce both victims and injured people by one fifth.

"They could have specified specific deadlines for securing the most conflict-ridden points on Bulgaria's road network. We don't hear a deadline, but we hear a percentage reduction in road fatalities", commented attorney. Lyudmil Rangelov in the program "Denyat ON AIR".

Roads are killers

According to the chairman of the Union of Automotive and Motorcycle Instructors, Eng. Yonko Ivanov, the roads are the killers in our country.

"These 25 ministers who changed and could not come up with a strategy for road safety in Bulgaria are to blame for this", he told Bulgaria ON AIR.
According to Rangelov, the introduction of additional sanction regimes disciplines drivers to a certain extent, but is not a foundation.

"This is not creating conditions, this is coloring the situation in acceptable colors," the lawyer also pointed out.

"We are entering the capital on an unlit section. Suddenly, they closed the "Hemus" highway and no one knows why this is happening. There was no one to control the column of trucks. Bulgaria has no strategy. There are no safety pins anywhere in Europe. The economy is money, and money is saving human lives. This is achieved by building European roads," emphasized Eng. Ivanov.
According to Rangelov, the long-standing problem with the "speed" with which auto-technical expertise is carried out continues to be on the agenda.

"They offer a videoconference interrogation of an expert. Videoconference interrogations are detrimental to precise justice. All the advantages are on his side. He is not here. You cannot capture the details and present them as a statement by the expert. Very often, auto-technical expertise is not one-person. Very often, medical personnel are also included in them. This will lead to a deterioration in the precision of the quality of justice," commented the lawyer.

Sanctions alone are not enough
Eng. Ivanov noted that people are used to blaming the driver for everything.

"So far, no minister has been found guilty. Aggression is copied from the family and the school. Sanctions are not enough. Now the door to corruption is opened with the new requirements for driving courses. Incompetent ministers, incompetent leadership - death on the road. Alienation concerns the lives of hundreds of people on the roads. Bulgaria is lagging behind in both roads and traffic organization," pointed out the chairman of the Union of Automobile and Motorcycle Instructors.
Rangelov is of the opinion that very serious thinking on legislative changes is required from experts.

"This is another noise that will die down. Other events will come out. There is no reason to expect that anything will happen. People in the Council of Ministers who present themselves as experts - this is ridiculous," the lawyer also pointed out.
