We want immediate major repairs not only of the ominous Telish - Radomirtsi section, but also of the entire Pleven - Lukovit road. This was said at the civil protest, which took place today in the village of Telish, by the mayor of the settlement Neli Dakova. She presented the demands of the village residents in order to reduce serious accidents on the road section. This is not just a road, this is a road on which many lives were lost, added Dakova. We want rehabilitation of the route, including complete new asphalt, safety facilities, marking and quality signaling. The road is in a tragic state and daily endangers the lives of all who use it, the mayor stressed.
She added that heavy-duty traffic should be limited, there should be clear and regulated rest stops for heavy-duty truck drivers. Among the demands is to secure and expand the intersection for the village of Telish on the I-3 road, to have it clearly marked, to have improved visibility and a reduction in speed in its area.
We insist on a clear schedule of repair activities, with designated responsible persons, as well as regular information to the public. We insist on deadlines, publicity and accountability, Dakova added. She stressed that there should also be a change in the law with stricter penalties for drivers who drive at an inappropriate speed, after using alcohol or drugs.
A large protest took place in the village of Telish today, in which the participants demanded an end to the “war” on the roads and responsibility from the institutions. The reason for it was the accident in which 12-year-old Siyana died.
