Milan can breathe a sigh of relief after goalkeeper Mike Mengian was discharged from hospital on Saturday morning and is already back in the city. According to “TMW”, all medical tests were positive and the French keeper avoided a serious head injury.
The incident occurred during the convincing 4-0 win over Udinese last night, when Mengian received a hard blow to the head after a collision with teammate Alejandro Jimenez. The goalkeeper was left motionless on the pitch and was carried out on a stretcher, causing shock among the players and spectators at the “Blueenergy” stadium.
Despite initial concerns, the news from the clinic in Udine was encouraging. The guard did not lose consciousness, but was taken for check-ups and remained under observation overnight as a precaution.
The Frenchman has been one of the Rossoneri's most important players this season, and the good news about his condition is a relief for fans, especially given the approaching second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals against arch-rivals Inter.
Meanwhile, the convincing victory in Udine temporarily reduced the gap between Milan and sixth-placed Lazio to four points. Marco Baroni's team will play the Rome derby against Roma on Sunday and will try to restore their seven-point lead.
