The Sofia Emergency Service received a new ambulance as a donation. However, the system continues to suffer from an acute shortage of personnel.
“We are infinitely grateful for the gesture made by a Bulgarian bank. This operational ambulance is much larger than the standard ones. The larger space provides comfort for medics and patients. The ambulance will also be used to transport patients over long distances”, commented the spokesperson for the Emergency Medical Care Center Katya Sungarska on the air of the program “Your Day” on NOVA NEWS.
She also said that ambulances receive speeding tickets every day, which is a discrepancy between two laws in the country. “There is no logic in them receiving tickets. Ambulances are rushing to save human lives”, Sungarska added.
The Center's spokesperson also commented on the lack of over 100 doctors in the Emergency Department. “There are not many people who want this to be their workplace. One of the arguments is the aggression against medics both in the Emergency Department and in hospitals”, Sungarska added.
