This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev in a statement in connection with information officially announced today by the Israeli side that the explosion in the city of Deir al-Balah, Gaza Strip, in which Captain Marin Marinov died, was caused by a shot fired by an Israeli tank.
„I would like to express once again my deepest condolences and sympathy for the family's grief for the heavy loss“, Minister Georgiev also pointed out. Our first diplomat also announced that the Bulgarian side has received official apologies from Israel regarding the death of the Bulgarian citizen.
The Bulgarian Foreign Minister categorically called for such tragedies not to be repeated and stated that the protection of humanitarian workers is of paramount importance, and the international community must guarantee their safety and freedom to carry out their duties, in accordance with international law.
“We insist on the resumption of observance of the ceasefire and ceasefire in Gaza, on preventing further civilian casualties and on the immediate return of the hostages“, Minister Georg Georgiev also stated in his statement.
