According to the results of January 2025, the total area of residential buildings put into operation in the capital decreased by 3.7 times compared to the same month last year to 95,300 sq m, Kazinform agency reports, citing the First Credit Bureau DATA HUB.
The sharp decline is mainly due to residential buildings, which account for the main share of all volumes - 95%, or 90,600 sq m. "Of course, in this regard, we should also talk about a decrease in the total number of apartments put into operation. According to the National Statistics Bureau of the Republic of Kazakhstan, by January 2024 this figure decreased by 3.3 times and amounted to 1,200 units", analysts comment.
As expected, the data for Astana “spoil“ the general picture: the republican indicator recorded a decrease of 27% year-on-year, reaching 766,100 sq.m. At the beginning of the year, a decrease was observed in seven more regions, but the main contribution to it was made by the capital (-257 thousand sq.m. from -281,800 sq.m.).
On the other hand, according to the results of the first month of the year, Astana accounts for almost half of all completed construction work on residential buildings in the country - 4.7 billion tenge from 10.2 billion tenge. True, compared to January 2024, their volume has decreased by 1.5 times, to 4.7 billion tenge.
If we talk about Almaty, there, unlike the capital, there is a good growth there, by 43.5%. The current value of this megalopolis is 226,100 sq.m. m.
Meanwhile, over the past 10 years, with the exception of two, housing construction in the capital has increased. By the end of 2024, there was talk of a 16% growth (4.4 million sq m versus 3.8 million sq m).
