A month after it became clear that one of the most famous hotels in Burgas - "Mirage" would be demolished, the municipal council gave permission for the building to be demolished and a new one to be built in its place. It will be 75 meters high and will have a mixed purpose - housing, offices and a commercial part. It will have 100 underground parking spaces.
A dispute between the construction entrepreneur and municipal councilor Georgi Manev and the designer of Dinevi Brothers - arch. Sabin Popov, as long as the future building is "green" was the reason for the report to be withdrawn from the agenda of the municipal council meeting at the end of January. It seems that the businessmen reacted quickly, because only a month later the report was included as an extraordinary item in the meeting of the Municipal Council - Burgas and was voted on, without any debate on the topic. With 35 votes “for“ and 6 “abstain” the decision to demolish the “Mirage“ hotel is a fact. According to the report submitted to the Municipal Council, the future building should be energy-efficient and sustainably built, as part of the vision for a modern urban appearance of Burgas.
The changes to the Detailed Development Plan (DDP), necessary for the implementation of the project, also provide for a significant increase in the intensity coefficient (Kint) from 5.0 to 19.65. This proposal, which a month ago met with criticism related to the project's compliance with the surrounding urban environment, has already been accepted by the Burgas municipal authorities.
