By the end of March, housing loans amounted to 27.031 billion leva. On an annual basis, the increase was 26.4%, according to BNB data. For February 2025, compared to February 2024, the growth was 26.2%. From BNB data, it is clear that only mortgage loans for the first quarter had a higher annual growth than for February. There are two reasons for this. The first is the low interest rates on this type of loan. The second is that commercial banks continue to develop this type of asset, due to its higher collateral and lower level of regulatory risk.
