Despite the explanatory campaigns, not only in the media, but also by the police, new cases of telephone fraud in Plovdiv. Over 60 thousand leva have been taken from elderly people in the last two months, BNT reports.
"There has been a trend of increasing this type of crime since the beginning of the year", said Commissioner Georgi Tashev - Head of the "Criminal Police" Department in "The Day Begins".
There are no new schemes in fraud, said Tashev. They continue in the old way, since over time it has become clear that people are worried when it comes to their injured loved one.
"There is also a way of fraud by influencing the victims that they will participate in a scheme to catch telephone fraudsters, i.e. assisting the police. This also misleads them".
The main indicator that it is a scam is that money is demanded over the phone.
