Mariyan's killers treated him like a slave - 1

The killers of 20-year-old Mariyan Paskov from Kula treated him like a slave. They took his money, treated him rudely, mocked him, until it came to the fatal beating on the night before the National Holiday on March 3, people from the city told “Telegraph“.

They are already preparing a petition for the eviction of Anton Iliev and Valentin Kamenov, with over 1,000 people having signed it.

The two men were arrested on Tuesday evening in the Czech Republic in the town of Benatky and are expected to be extradited to our country as soon as possible.

Marijan graduated from school and decided to support himself. That's why he left his foster family's house. He also tried to work abroad, but it didn't work out. He helped everyone in Kula who asked him. He chopped wood for the elderly for ridiculous money, and he also helped with yard cleaning and general work. Anton Iliev rented him a room on his property. However, it turned out that he and Valentin took all the money the boy had earned. They threw food at him and behaved rudely and indecently with him, writes Telegraf.

On March 2, people saw how Anton, Valentin and Mariyan went to a local establishment. The two perpetrators drank too much alcohol and went home, and Mariyan was their company. According to the prosecutor's office, at night, under the influence of alcohol, Anton decided to beat the 20-year-old boy out of spite. First, he gave him a severe beating with a crowbar, and after he had calmed down, he picked up a tree and continued to beat him. Early in the morning on March 3, having sobered up a bit, the men saw that Mariyan was not breathing and decided to get rid of his body. Iliev and Kamenov burned the boy's body and put his remains in a sack. Then they dumped it in a nearby landfill. They made no effort to hide or bury it.

On March 5, the two men already knew what awaited them, because in Kula, serious talk began about the atrocity they had committed. They bought tickets to the Czech Republic for 130 euros each and thus reached the town of Benatky. However, the police tracked their location and contacted their colleagues on the spot. They decided to organize the operation to capture the Bulgarians on March 11, so as not to risk the perpetrators escaping.

From the distributed footage that “Telegraph“ has, it can be seen how heavily armed berets snapped handcuffs on Iliev and Kamenov and took them into pre-trial detention. The sentences that Anton and Valentin could receive, if convicted, range from 15 years to life in prison without the right to parole.

Anton is the physical perpetrator, and Kamenov is his accomplice. The case resembles the brutal murder of Mitko from Tsalapitsa. There, however, the twins were only charged with concealment of property and received 5 years in prison at first instance. In the case of Mariyan, the people of Kula hope that the charge will be under another article of the Criminal Code, which will allow for a large sentence. Anton Iliev has two convictions - for theft and assault, and his accomplice Valentin Kamenov has no convictions so far. He is only being prosecuted for criminally taking someone else's property. After it became clear that Mariyan was killed in Iliev's home, the municipality took Iliev's three children to a crisis center. It is not clear how long they will stay there.
