The Family, Civil and Administrative Court in Abu Dhabi has ordered a maid to pay Dh10,000 in compensation for child abuse to her employer.
CCTV footage shows the housekeeper treating the child roughly, causing him physical and mental injuries.
According to the case file, the employer has filed a lawsuit against the maid, demanding that she pay Dh51,000 in compensation for physical and mental harm caused to his child.
The plaintiff also asked her to cover legal costs. The plaintiff claims that the housekeeper was hired specifically to look after the child as a “babysitter“. She had no other duties than to care for the child with love and pedagogical professionalism, but the cameras showed the cruel abuse of the young child by his nanny.
The court explained that the camera recordings showed the suspect severely injuring the child's legs.
During the interrogation, the woman pleaded not guilty and denied the charges, stating that she “simply held the child's legs while playing“. She added that she took care of the child daily, in the absence of his mother while she was at lectures at the university.
