Bulgarian European prosecutor Teodora Georgieva will be removed from her post in the coming weeks due to the leaked recording of her meeting with shady judicial lobbyist Petyo Petrov – Pepi Euroto in the “Eight Dwarfs“ restaurant and the suspicions of corruption in the European Prosecutor's Office, “Weekend“ learned from its sources in the judicial system.

After the recording was distributed to the media last week by a sender signing as “Petyo Petrov – alive“, and the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office ordered an investigation, the head of the European Prosecutor's Office Laura Kövesi has called on Georgieva to provide detailed explanations on the case, explicitly making it clear that if the accusations are proven and it is established that the video was not manipulated, the Bulgarian will be forced to leave.

Informants reveal that Teodora Georgieva was put on the penalty by Laura Kövesi a few months ago due to the lack of a sufficient number of indictments in major investigations into the embezzlement of millions from public procurements funded by the European Union. However, Georgieva justified herself by saying that the work on key investigations was sabotaged by the Ministry of Interior and Bulgarian institutions, and that she only had 11 prosecutors and a small number of collaborators.

Delegated Bulgarian prosecutors from Laura Kövesi's structure claim that Teodora Georgieva deliberately misled the head of the European Public Prosecutor's Office that her mother was killed by the mafia because of her work, and that the crime was disguised by deliberately setting fire to her house in the village of Beglezh.

Unofficially, it is claimed that the European Public Prosecutor's Office also sent a signal against Teodora Georgieva to Laura Kövesi, signed by Pepi Euroto and accompanied by a video recording that is longer than the video sent to the domestic media and the prosecutor's office.

„For several days, speculation has been going on that Kövesi received and watched the entire video recording of Teodora Georgieva's meeting with Petyo Petrov in the restaurant “Osemte dvujeta“ from January 13, 2020, as well as another short video in which the Bulgarian European prosecutor receives a bulky envelope from Pepi Euroto. However, there has been no official reaction yet“, the source claims.

So far, Teodora Georgieva has also not commented on the leaked recording of her meeting with Pepi Euroto and the claim in the signal that she collected a 10,000 leva bribe every month from the former Sofia investigator and current fugitive from justice.

It is alleged that Teodora Georgieva took monthly bribes from Pepi Euroto at least until the summer of 2022, and in many cases she collected the money not in the restaurant “Osemte dvujeta“, but in Sofia parks and gardens. It is alleged that the bribes were brought to Teodora Georgieva by former boxer Kristiyan Hristov, who became famous in the "Eight Dwarfs" affair as Pepi Euro's chief assistant.

Hristov, who is the boyfriend of the daughter of the head of the Sofia Appellate Prosecutor's Office Emilia Rusinova, was arrested in the summer of 2023 at the height of the war that broke out between the then Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev and his deputy Borislav Sarafov, minutes before giving a press conference at BTA. Months earlier, Hristov was listed as the owner of the elevator factory "Izamet" owned by Iliya Zlatanov. Zlatanov subsequently announced that he had transferred his shares in "Izamet" because he had been blackmailed that otherwise his son Yavor Zlatanov would not receive life-saving treatment. At that time, Zlatanov Jr. was in custody with acute kidney failure and facing money laundering charges. After Kristiyan Hristov was arrested, charges were brought against him and Pepi Euroto for illegally recording meetings with various Bulgarian citizens and magistrates, which were quietly dropped a few months later.

„Kristiyan Hristov may become a witness for the prosecution in a future bribery case by the European Prosecutor Teodora Georgieva. Due to the looming huge corruption scandal, Laura Kövesi will probably break up with Georgieva very soon“, claims a source from the judicial system.

On the night of February 14-15, Rumyana Petkova, Teodora Georgieva's mother, died in a fire in her house in the village of Pleven, and a few days later Laura Kövesi publicly asked the Ministry of Interior to place the Bulgarian European Prosecutor under 24-hour police guard. “Kövesi was misled by Teodora Georgieva that her mother was strangled with a pillow, and then her murderers set the house on fire. The Bulgarian woman referred to her mother's neighbors who allegedly saw a black car with a Ruse license plate leaving the area shortly before the fire broke out“, claims a source from “Weekend“.

However, the investigation has established that the 76-year-old mother of Teodora Georgieva died from smoke inhalation and toxic emissions from the fire, and not from suffocation due to lack of oxygen. Video camera recordings from the entrance and exit of the village of Beglezh did not identify the entry and exit of suspicious vehicles, and there are no signs of a break-in at the house of the deceased prosecutor's mother Rumyana Petkova.
