England football team Everton received another punishment with the withdrawal of points, this time two points will be deducted immediately from the team's assets, the Premier League announced, cited by Reuters and BTA.
This is the second punishment for the "caramels" during the season, with the first occasion deducting 10 points from Shaun Dyche's team, sending them into the relegation zone. On appeal the club had the four points returned to him, but he has now been deducted a further two, taking his total to 8 for the season.
The sanction is due to financial violations in the period ending in the 2022-23 season.
An independent panel heard evidence and arguments from the club about the £16.6m breaches over the period.
"The Commission has imposed a penalty of 2 points, which will take effect immediately," the announcement said.
Everton's position is that he should not be punished again because of the concept of "double punishment", the war in Ukraine and because of the League's full cooperation in the matter.
The club would like to thank the Board of Fans as well as all its supporters for their patience and unreserved support. Everton are also preparing to appeal against the commission's new sanction and will not be making any further comments at this time.
Due to the new ban, Sean Dyche's side have now been overtaken in the table by Brentford and are in 16th position with 27 points - two clear of Luton Town, who are the first team below the Premier League relegation zone.
