At the Louis II Stadium in Monaco, the hosts took the lead with a goal from Magnes Aklyush, but Rennes equalized through defender Mahamadou Nagida in the 45+1 minute.
In the 52nd minute, striker Mika Bieret again put the hosts ahead, and four later Monaco reached the third goal after a precise strike by the Monegasque Russian midfielder Alexander Golovin. In the 67th minute, Amin Guiry scored the second goal for the guests.
After 19 matches played, Monaco is in third place in the Ligue 1 standings with 34 points. Rennes is in 15th place with 17 points. The French championship standings are led by Paris Saint-Germain with 46 points.
