Max Verstappen is #1 in Formula 1 for more than 1000 days. He thus became the first driver to reach the four-digit number of days at the top of Formula 1 during the course of yesterday (February 14), reports sportal.bg.
The Red Bull driver took the lead in the general classification on May 22, 2022 with his victory in the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. The previous record for the most consecutive days at the top of the general classification in Formula 1 was held by Michael Schumacher. The seven-time world champion remained at the top for 896 days between the 2000 United States Grand Prix and the 2003 Australian Grand Prix.
Simple calculations show that Verstappen will reach at least 1,030 days at the top of Formula 1, and only the results of the Australian Grand Prix, which will kick off the 2025 season on March 16, will determine whether his streak continues or not.
