Fernando Verdasco is ending professional tennis. The Spaniard said he will end his career after the tournament in Doha. The 41-year-old athlete will play doubles with Serbian Novak Djokovic in the Qatari capital, BTA reports.
„After so many years on the ATP Tour, it's time for my last tournament. And what better way to end than playing doubles with my friend Novak Djokovic, a true legend of our sport. Novak, thank you very much for saying „yes“ from the very beginning“, the Spaniard wrote on his social networks.
Verdasco is a former world number 7 in singles and former number 8 in doubles. He has a total of 15 ATP tournament titles in his career. In 2013, the Spaniard became the champion of the ATP Finals. His best result in a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the semifinals of the 2009 Australian Open.
