Yannick Sinner receives punishment for doping, reached an agreement - 1

Yannick Sinner will be punished for 3 months for the notorious case of doping, reports sportal.bg. The Italian has reached an agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency and his punishment takes effect from February 9 and will be in effect until May 4. The punishment is calculated so that Sinner can return to his “home” “Masters” in Rome, which begins on May 7.

Sinner will lose a total of 2,000 points - 400 from the semifinal in Indian Wells, 1,000 from the title in Miami (with a victory in the final over Grigor Dimitrov), 400 from the semifinal in Monte Carlo and 200 from the quarterfinal in Madrid.

As of next week, Sinner will have 11,330 points, with him losing 500 because he is not defending his title in Rotterdam. Before the start of the “Masters” in Rome, he will have 9,330 points, with his closest pursuer Alexander Zverev currently having 8,135. Sinner has been punished for using the banned substance clostebol (anabolic steroid), which entered his body through the hands of his masseur.

Sinner will miss the following tournaments:
ATP 500 in Doha and Rio de Janeiro (February 17-22)
ATP 500 in Dubai and Acapulco (February 24 - March 1)
ATP 250 in Santiago (February 24 - March 2)
“Masters” in Indian Wells (March 5-16)
