Olympic 100-meter sprint champion Noah Lyles will race against one of the biggest stars in the National Football League (NFL) Tyreek Hill. The Miami Dolphins wide receiver announced this personally on social media after he and the athlete threatened each other for months, BTA reports.
Hill challenged Lyles to a 50-yard sprint, which is much closer to what American football players do during their final college tests before the draft. This happened days after Lyles' triumph at the Paris Olympics.
Lyles responded to Hill earlier this month after winning the 60-meter indoor race for the fourth time in a row at the US Grand Prix series. After the finish, he removed his race number and revealed a hidden one that read: “Tyrick would never make it.“
It is not yet clear where the race between Lyles and Hill will take place, but it will happen before the U.S. track and field championships in July. The two have also not yet announced a distance, with Hill initially insisting on 40 meters. In an interview with the media, Lyles said that a 100-meter sprint would mean a clear victory for him. “Maybe we'll meet somewhere in the middle,” Lyles added, as quoted by Reuters.
