Jacob Kiplimo broke the world record in the half marathon with a time of 56:41 minutes in Barcelona, Reuters reports. The Ugandan athlete was 49 seconds faster than the previous record of Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha from Ethiopia, recorded in October last year, BTA reports.
According to information from the World Athletics Federation, Kiplimo's new record is the largest difference from the previous one in the history of the discipline.
Japanese Toshikazu Yamanishi broke the world best in the 20km race walk earlier today. He covered the distance in 1:16.10 hours in Kobe and surpassed the record of his compatriot Yusuke Suzuki from 2015. The difference is one minute and 32 seconds.
