World biathlon star Johannes Tingnes Boe defended his title in the 12.5-kilometer pursuit for the third time at the World Championships in the Swiss winter resort of Lenzerheide, BTA reports.

The Norwegian, who started first after winning the sprint, led from start to finish, and on the last lap he held off the pressure of New Zealand-born Campbell Wright. Boe made two mistakes in four shots and covered the course in 32:26.9 minutes. For him, this is the 22nd gold medal in his career from world championships and the 90th victory for the World Cup.

Second place went to Campbell Wright (USA), who also came second in the sprint. He made only one mistake at the turn and was close to a surprise, but he was 8.6 seconds off first place. The bronze medal went to Eric Perrot (France) at 20.8 seconds with one penalty lap.

"I was fighting with myself at the front. I think I made some good shots, especially the last one. With this young guy behind me, I was pushing hard, I was tired on the last climb, but I tried to reach the finish line first. Another historic day. It's a good weekend", said 31-year-old Johannes Tingnes Bø after the success.

Thus, the Norwegian, who will end his career at the end of the season, now has 22 titles, two more than his compatriot Ole Einar Björndalen. He is only behind in the number of medals, which are five less than those of Bjorndalen.

Two Bulgarians started the competition, but they did not have a day in shooting. Blagoy Todev is 41st with four faults and a deficit of 4:50.3 minutes, and Vladimir Iliev is in 54th place with eight missed targets and 5:57.6 minutes behind Bjo.
