The Rome Masters tennis tournament could become the fifth Grand Slam tournament, writes “La Stampa”.
The Italian Tennis Federation has already made an offer to the organizers of the Madrid Masters tournament, which takes place a week before the Rome tournament, to buy the competition for $550 million.
Thus, the Italians will extend the tournament in the country's capital to two weeks.
It is noted that the federation will also need approval from a commission consisting of the organizers of the four current Grand Slam tournaments (USA, Great Britain, France and Australia).
