A new reshuffle in the Bulgarian national basketball team has occurred in the last few hours. Instead of the expected return of the naturalized American Dee Bost, another American with a Bulgarian passport should be included in the team - Brandon Young, who has also already played for the national team. This was announced by coach Rosen Barchovski upon the team's departure for Germany, where tomorrow it will face the world champion in an attempt to qualify for EuroBasket 2025, BTA reported.
"You know about the decision of the two clubs Olympiacos and Red Star regarding Alexander Vezenkov and Cody Miller-McIntyre, it was final immediately after the game. We were looking for an option for their replacements. In place of Cody Miller, we had two options - Brandon Young and Dee Bost. Brandon was in the US for 10 days, they let him rest and he didn't train," said Barchovski and continued:
"Dee Bost was ready and we booked a ticket, but at the last minute his club wouldn't let him go. There is an official letter, there will be some reaction. Right now the last thing we are doing is to somehow bring Brandon Young in today, regardless of his form."
"If he can help a little. They are both experienced players. We have a late training session tonight and if he manages to arrive, it will be good, but it can't be much. We have to try. The chance is very small, but even if it's one percent, we have to try," said the head coach of the national team, Rosen Barchovski.
"Pavlin Ivanov was sick with a fever last night and if necessary, Ilian Pishchikov will play. "We have the most difficult game on the scale of difficulty ahead of us. We have to beat Germany to qualify, but it depends on the result of the other game," he added.
