Spanish national football team player Jennifer Hermoso believes that the conviction of former federation head Luis Rubiales, who kissed her without her consent after the World Cup award ceremony, has created an "important precedent", DPA reported, BTA reported.
She made the comment after Rubiales was found guilty after the trial and forced to pay a fine of 10,800 euros. He was also banned from coming within 200 meters of Hermoso or speaking to her for a year.
However, Rubiales was acquitted of the charge of forcing the concealment of information, as was former national team coach Jorge Wilda.
"It's finally over. All this will set an important precedent in the social environment, but there is still much to be done. My heart is grateful to everyone who was here and continues to fight with me," the Spaniard wrote on her Instagram account. On Friday, Luis Rubiales lost his appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne against the ban on holding positions in football for 3 years.
