Stanimir Stoilov's team Göztepe suffered a minimal 1:0 defeat in their visit to Kayserispor in a match from the 25th round of the Turkish Super League. The only goal in the match was scored by former CSKA player Duquesne Nazon (44’) at the end of the first half.
The hosts, who have been having a rather weak season so far and are fighting for their survival in the highest level of Turkish football, have continued their rise in the last few weeks and are now unbeaten in their fourth consecutive match in the championship, having recorded two wins and two draws. They played a stronger match, managed to control the ball for longer periods of the match, and their attacks were sharper. The two teams played a slightly weaker first half, lacking serious scoring opportunities. It was at the very end of the first half, however, that Cardoso entered the penalty area and shot at the post, but Duquesne Nazon was in the right place from close range, and scored.
The picture on the pitch did not change much in the second half, although both teams demonstrated more attractive football for the fans, managing to create better chances. Stanimir Stoilov's players tried to increase their pressure in the last 15 minutes of the match, in which they managed to score the ball into the penalty area several times and hit the post, but they never reached the desired equalizer.
In this way, Goztepe, managed by the Bulgarian specialist, continues its bad streak of the last few weeks and recorded its fourth match without success in the championship, in which “goz-goz” has three losses. However, the team from Izmir remains sixth in the standings, five points behind fifth-placed Eyupspor. Kayserispor, on the other hand, continues to fight for survival after today's victory brought them level with Sivasspor, who are just above the relegation zone.
