Milena Todorova recorded another excellent result in her career, after finishing fifth in the 12.5-kilometer mass start at the Biathlon World Championships in the Swiss winter resort of Lenzerheide, BTA reported.

The best Bulgarian competitor missed two targets in four shots and was only 24.3 seconds behind champion Elvira Oberg (Sweden).

Todorova made a mistake in her first shot, but after the second visit to the line, she shot cleanly and came in fourth position. She made another miss in the third shot, but knocked down all five targets in the fourth and, after a strong cross-country skiing on the last lap, managed to finish fifth. This is the best result for Bulgaria among women at a world championship since 2002.

The other Bulgarian Lora Hristova finished 26th with four penalty laps and 2:45.5 minutes behind the winner.

The Swede Elvira Oberg became the world champion for the first time in her career. She missed one shot in each of the first two rounds, but then shot all ten targets and triumphed in 40:32.2 minutes. Before this start, she had two silver and three bronze medals from the World Championships individually and with the Swedish relay team.

The second was the Frenchwoman Ocean Michelon with a deficit of 9.4 seconds with three penalty laps, and the bronze medal was taken by Maren Kirkeide (Norway) 16.5 seconds behind the first position, also with three errors at the line. The World Championships in Lenzerheide conclude later today with the men's 15 km mass start without Bulgarian participation.
