Two goals from Aiden Hammond launched Western Sydney to fourth place in the Australian A-League standings, after the team defeated Perth Glory 4:1 at home in a match from round 19, BTA reported.
A serious contribution to the victory was also made by Bulgarian striker Bozhidar Kraev, who scored the fourth goal for his team, but actually created the second, which turned the game around.
The hosts had to swallow an early goal by Adam Taggart in the 5th minute, but this did not bother them and they were almost immediately close to equalizing. However, this happened in the 14th minute, when Aiden Hammond equalized. In the 39th minute, Kraev advanced in front of the penalty area and shot, but the ball bounced off the post. However, the running Hammond brought it in and turned the match around.
Five minutes into the second half, the score became 3:1 after a goal by Oscar Priestman, and Kraev made the final 4:1 in the 66th. The Bulgarian entered after the penalty spot, waited for Zachary Sapsford's cross and headed the ball in the opposite direction, leaving no chance for the visitors' goalkeeper Oliver Sale. For the Mezdra-born player, this is goal number 5 since the start of the season in the Australian championship.
With this success, Western Sydney Wanderers collected 31 points and moved to 4th place in the standings, lagging only 1 behind Western United and Adelaide, who are ahead of them. Perth Glory is 12th with 11 points.
