Track and field athlete Plamena Mitkova finished sixth in the long jump final at the European Indoor Championships in the Dutch city of Apeldoorn, BTA reports.
Mitkova recorded 6.63 meters in her second attempt, when she was fourth in the standings. She repeated 6.63 in her last attempt. The Bulgarian was overtaken by two athletes and left behind only Pauline Hondema from the Netherlands and Mikaele Asani from Germany.
The Italian Larisa Iapicchino became the European champion in the long jump for the first time in her career, having made a best jump of 6.94 meters in her third attempt. In second place was Anik Kelin from Switzerland with 6.90 meters, who was third at Euro 2022, and the bronze medal was won by Malaika Mihambo from Germany with 6.88, which she achieved on her last attempt.
