Grigor Dimitrov qualified for the second round of the Masters tournament in Indian Wells, BTA reports. The Bulgarian prevailed over Nuno Borges with 6:3, 6:4 in 1:33 hours of play.
Dimitrov achieved an early breakthrough for 3:1 in the first set, conceded a rebreak, but immediately regained the lead and won the set with 6:3 on his own serve.
Gregor broke for 2:1 in the second set, and in the sixth game he managed to hold the serve in a marathon battle that lasted 18 minutes, in which Grigor saved 5 break points and brought the audience to its feet. Ultimately, Dimitrov closed out the match on his first match point and recorded his first victory over this opponent in two matches, having lost the previous one at the Australian Open last year.
In the third round of the tournament, Dimitrov will play against Gael Monfils of France, who defeated Sebastian Korda (Argentina) - 7:6 (2), 7:6 (4).
