Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher commented on the work of Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, after the "Magpies" defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the League Cup final, Topsport reported.
"Howe has done a brilliant job. I think he is a real professional. It is not good that there is no English coach in the England national team. When the position became available, I said that Eddie Howe was the best option.
Under his leadership, Newcastle became a physically strong team, but they saved their best for the final. It was not the best football, but a lot of it was probably Newcastle's style. Liverpool's front three lack speed. "It wasn't their day, it was all Newcastle's. Set pieces, midfield play and pace. Liverpool couldn't cope with that," Carragher said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
